On 3rd December 1874, Laura Millar Burness Paull joined her family in Glasgow, Scotland. She was the youngest of six; a daughter of William and Jessie Paull, and having two brothers alongside her four sisters.
After studying at Glasgow Academy, Paull progressed to the University of Glasgow, where she ultimately achieved her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1895.
In the year 1897, Paull was joined in marriage with James Burness and the union of their union blossomed into the birth of two children.
Having devoted years to honing her craft, Paull’s work as a writer and journalist culminated in pieces for outlets like the Glasgow Herald and the Scotsman. Her literary opus was then completed by way of a personal biography of her beloved husband.
Paull’s campaigning for the right to vote caused her to become a notable member of the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU). Unfortunately, her passionate pursuits were not without consequence – Paull faced, and was taken into custody for, multiple arrests due to her activist work.
Paull breathed his final breath on the fifteenth of August 1915, leaving the world at the tender age of forty.
